Subject:Czech is a difficult language

I am posting this from Prague, and i gotta say, it shits all over Paris in prettymuch every way you can think of (except fewer people speak english- but that just adds to the experience!).

Saw notre dame, it was full of tourists, the basilique Saint Denis was much more impressive and full of all of frances dead kings for the past 1000+ years. Notre Dame had all these artificial lights and it was still realy dark. I thought this was meant to be a gothic cathedral which takes advantage of natural light? Saint Denis had hardly any electric lights, and the stain glass windows made these amazing bursts of coloured light on the ground. Sacre Coeur is a waste of time and has faaaaaaar too many steps. You have to watch out for these guys who try to tie a string around your wrist then charge you 5 euro's for it because you cant take it off.

Prague is better anyway. The streets are prettier, everything is cheaper, and there is so much to see. We wandered the streets of paris for hours on end and it gets pretty boring pretty fast, when you do that in prague (at least in the old city) you are constantly awestruck.

I just got back from melbourne. Ceara is now in Queensland. She was having trouble here so she is going to go spend some time with her family up there. I dont know how that bodes for our relationship. >_>

Because it was an early flight we went into melbourne yesterday and stayed overnight in the CRAPPEST hotel. There was this whirring thing that went ALL NIGHT and the sound proofing in general was awful and i heard someone vomiting and i swear i didnt get any sleep and i was too hot and they said only when we were just checking out and when we were in a rush that they dont actually charge credit cards after agreeing twice to charge Cearas mums credit card and there was this spot in the toilets which was totally sealed off and i reckon you could have climbed in there and slept in there if you wanted to i would make such a good homeless person i reckon i am always finding inaccessible spots in urban spaces is that statement insensitive to homeless people anyway lets just say i enjoy finding sealed off spots in urban spaces and did i mention since i didnt get any sleep im running mostly on sugar at the moment?

We tried to go shopping but didnt buy anything. Whats with all these napoleon dynamite t-shirts? And t-shirts with logos and brands (Pepsi, mcdonalds) on them? YOU ARE NOT A BILLBOARD. Is that all that is left of our culture, self-identification via product preference? Looking at clothing with its mass produced unique designs and off-the-rack fading, rips and patches makes me feel like i really should be making my own clothes, anything else just feels... well, insincere. The cultural roots of these clothes with their open seams, graffiti like-designs, patches and zig-zag stitching comes from a DIY mentality. It is precisely the opposite of the point, to want to get the credibility of that 'look' without the effort. The most ironic thing in all this is that if you actually did wear a geniune faded, ripped, patched 80's tee, it probably wouldnt be fashionable in the slightest. You must get brand new clothes that merely pretend to be old.

I did end up buying a t-shirt but i dont know if i like it. I am such a bad shopper, i never want to buy anything and whenever i do i dont like it. Then i end up just analyizng and becoming disillusioned with the culture that produced the clothing and the statement i am making by wearing it.

I need to post more, soooo.

Two days ago went to melbourne to see Laura Veirs and Jen Cloher in concert. Met up with Mark, Michelle and Sam for dinner at Soul Mamas (Where the food was not that good and gave me horrific flatulence, AUGH! Worst bit is i didnt even realise it was me).

Its kinda weird thinking that everyone there met over the internet.

Then Ceara Sam and i went to the concert and it was good and i got Laura Veirs and Jen Clohers signed albumumns. Then we went and stayed in a hotel because its too far to go home that late at night.

Aaaand now im stuffed and want to stay in bed for the new few weeks.

Oh, and i got really sunburnt a few days earlier at a medieval faire. My nose is peeling. I never sunburn. That sucked. The medieval faire was good though. Who knew that jousting was still a proper, actual sport, with professional jousters performing on circuits and stuff? Also lots of people beating eachother up with swords. And archery. God im such a boy.... There was also pretty dresses and stuff too?

This is the view from my front porch. That is snow, not odd clouds. Snow on christmas day in australia. In the middle of summer. A week ago, you couldnt see those mountains from all the smoke from the bushfires, and now its covered in snow.

Okay, im going up the mountain now to play in the snow.

The Pirates of Penzance, starring Jack Sparrow as The Pirate King. Im sorry, i mean Johnny Depp. Im sorry, i mean Anthony Warlow.

How awesome is that? He even does the wobbling, the voice, the mannerisms, the whole bit.
